The Verdict
Raycast is the rare productivity tool that actually makes you faster — not just feel faster.
Our Take
At its core Raycast replaces macOS Spotlight with something dramatically more useful: a launcher with a real extension store, clipboard history, window management, snippets, and AI baked in. After two weeks you stop reaching for the trackpad.
Best For
- Developers and power users who live on the keyboard
- Mac users who feel boxed in by Spotlight or Alfred
- Teams that want shared snippets and quicklinks
Consider Alternatives If
- You're not on macOS — Windows support is in beta and limited
- You don't care about extending your launcher (Spotlight is fine)
- You're privacy-restricted and can't install third-party launchers
