Astronaut's Score
The Verdict
Mux is the Stripe of video — boring in the best possible way.
Our Take
Self-hosting video reliably is a deep specialty. Mux turns it into three lines of code, with quality-of-experience analytics that show you exactly where viewers buffer or quit.
Where It Fits
- Any product embedding meaningful video
- Live streaming and webinar platforms
- Teams that need quality analytics, not just storage
Where It Falls Short
- You stream casually and YouTube embeds are fine
- You're cost-bound at massive scale and have an in-house video team
- You only need short-form transcoding (Cloudflare Stream is cheaper)
